Competition - What Part Does It Play
Does Children's Quizzing include Competition?
Competition is an optional part of the Children's Quizzing program. Each church and each child decide if they want to participate in a series of competition events.
INVITATIONALS: Competition begins with practice quizzes to prepare for official competition. Invitationals occur when one or more churches organize, plan, prepare questions for the practice, and invite other churches to participate.
The ZONE/AREA Competition: This is the first official level of competition. Any child from churches within the designated zone/area may participate in this competition.
The DISTRICT Competition: This is the second official level of competition. Children who reach the designated score level at the zone/area competition may attend and participate in the district competition.
The REGIONAL Competition: This is a non-official competition between two or more districts/states. The participating district directors finalize the date, location, and questions. Regional Competitions are to be held in accordance with the "Children's Quizzing Officials Competition Rules and Procedures."
WORLD Competition: This is the highest level of official competition. A World Competition is held every four years. Children who reach a designated qualifying score at the District competition qualify to participate in the World Quiz. World Quiz will be held in Indianapolis, IN on June 25, 2005, during General Assembly. Click here for important facts.
In Children's Quizzing, children do not compete against each other to determine one winner. Churches do not compete against each other to determine the top church.
**At this time, additional unofficial competitions such as State and Regional competitions are held when organized and planned by participants from those locations.**
Do All Children of All Ages Participate Together?
There are two levels of competition.
The RED LEVEL is for beginning quizzers and children who need or desire a simple competition. Competition questions come directly from the book.
The BLUE LEVEL is for advanced quizzers and children who need or desire an advanced form of competition. Some competition questions are new and require a higher level of thought processing.
Levels are not defined by or limited to certain grades.
May Other Denominations Participate?
Yes. Churches from any denomination may participate in both official and unofficial competitions.
